After you have download and installed the Panama map, the next step is to send the map to your GPS device. There are 2 popular software applications that can send the Panama map to your GPS unit.

  1. Garmin Mapsource
    Mapsource can display the Panama map on your PC and is capable of sending the map to a Garmin GPS device. Also Mapsource can download saved waypoint and track data to and from the GPS unit.
  2. Sendmap20
    This is a free utility that can send Garmin format maps to your Garmin device. This is the simplest method to get the map from your PC to the GPS device. Sendmap20 can't display the map on your PC, it is a sending utility only.

Mapsource - where to get and how to install

Some new Garmin GPS model don't come with Mapsource now. You can still get it by following the instructions below.

  1. Download and install the Garmin Training Center for Windows.

  2. Download and install Garmin Mapsource.

    The link above will allow you to install Garmin Mapsource Version 6.14.1. If you encounter any problems, you may wish to use that last of the previous version being 6.13.7 from the link below.

  3. If you have not already done so, download the Panama GPS map from the dowloads page and run the setup.exe file.
  4. Start Mapsource and you will be prompted to unlock the Panama map. If you don't have the unlock code, please send your Garmin Unit ID to admin@ptygps.com and we will supply the unlock code.

    There is a link to a video at the top of this page that will show you how to send the map to your Garmin device with Garmin Mapsource.
